On this special day 5th grade students participated in several fun and hands on activities in order to prepare them for the Science TAKS test.
Thursday May 8th 4th and 5th grade G/T students traveled to Longview to Maude Cobb Convention Center to participate in Kaleidoscope Konnections. Activities were designed and presented for the gifted.

5th Grade participated in the Henderson County Spring Rendezvous sponsored by the Henderson County Wildlife Committee.  Partners in the event are Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Natural Resource Conservation Service. 
Students were exposed to activities such as Wildlife Conservation, Habitat Management, Archery, Gun Safety, Soil Science and Water and Boat Safety.
Arbor Day Athens Intermediate School celebrated Arbor Day by planting trees that were donated by Jason of the Texas Forest Service.  Carol Morton with Keep Athens Beautiful announced the winner and runner-ups of the Keep Athens Beautiful Poster Contest.  The winner was Arisa Hearn and the runner –ups are Christian Harris, Brooke Bryan, Ricky Ramirez, Gabriela Brooks (not shown in photo) and Tyler Robinson.
