Coach Durrett has 24 years of coaching experience with 19 of those years as a head basketball coach. Coach Durrett has been named the new athletic director of Athens ISD. He graduated University of Texas @ Tyler in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree and in 1997 with a masters from P.V. A.M. U. He has been married to his wife Laurie for 29 years. They have 4 children, Brandon, age 27, who is currently in Iraq working with the U.S. Army as a Warrant officer, Ben , age 24, an assistant coach @ Keen ISD, Austin age 23, who is an assistant coach with Eastern New Mexico University, and Kara, age 19 who is currently enrolled at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. They have one grandchild, AllieAnna, age 1 1/2, which resides in Iraq and another due February of 2008.
