AHS baseball superlatives
Several members of the Athens High School varsity baseball team received UIL District 16-4A honors, as well as having an academic all-state honoree. From left: Elijah Carnes was named 16-4A Freshman of the Year; Chase Greene was named to 1st Team Utility; Matthew Runte made 1st Team Infield as well as being named to the Texas High School Coaches Association 2nd Team Academic All-State; Eli Perkins was named to 1st Team Outfield; Joseph Garcia made 2nd Team Pitcher; Nate Garcia is 2nd Team Pitcher; and, not pictured, Jonathan Gonzalez is Honorable Mention Pitcher.
