
Athens High School UIL Academic Team brought home
the "Runner-Up" Regional Academic Championship
Results:
Mathematics: Derek Davies placed 1st and Sunil Prajapati placed 4th individually. The mathematics team consisting of Derek, Sunil, Chris Knight, and Rachaelle Browning placed 1st and advanced to state competition.
Calculator: Derek Davies placed 1st and Sunil Prajapati placed 3rd individually. The calculator team consisting of Derek, Sunil, Skyler Walker, and Monica Julian placed 1st and advanced to the state competition.
Informative speaking: Nelly Pedroza placed 2nd and advanced to the state competition.
Poetry: Quinton Johnson placed 1st and advanced to the state competition.
One Act Play advanced to the state competition. Individual awards: Skyler Walker honorable mention, Quinton Johnson all star cast, and Mason Bogowitz all star cast.

SAE HUNGER WARRIORS TO DONATE PRODUCE TO FOOD PANTRY; SEEKS COMMUNITY PARTNERS
ATHENS: The students with the South Athens Elementary Garden Project have declared themselves “Hunger Warriors” and are donating all of the produce from the garden to the Henderson County Food Pantry in an effort to fight childhood hunger. To guarantee that the shelves of the food pantry are filled, the students are seeking community partners that will match, pound for pound, the amount of food raised and donate it to the pantry.

AHS Culinary Arts Students Excel at Competitions
Culinary Arts students had the opportunity to participate in various competitions during the last two weeks. February 10th, 2012, AHS Culinary Arts students attended the FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) regional conference in Waco. Four students will be advancing to State for competitive events and six will be advancing for success on the knowledge test.
