Athens Middle School will be hosting a planned first responder training exercise on Thursday, June 4.
The training will bring together local law enforcement, emergency response personnel and school staff. During the exercise, people driving by the campus may notice several law enforcement vehicles, emergency vehicles, specialized equipment or simulated activity.
That activity is part of the training. There is no threat to district employees or the public.
The purpose of the exercise is simply to provide the people who serve our schools and community a chance to practice working together in a controlled setting. Trainings like this help strengthen communication, coordination and response procedures should an emergency ever occur.
