Aerial map of Bruce Field and surrounding Athens ISD campuses showing football parking locations. Public parking is permitted at the Bruce Field lot north of the stadium, Athens High School main campus east of the stadium, the “Horseshoe” lot southeast of the stadium, baseball and softball parking areas along Dull Averiette Street, and parking at Central Athens Elementary west and southwest of the stadium. The parking area immediately south of Bruce Field along Owen Street is reserved for players, coaches and support staff only. The former visitor-side parking area southeast of the stadium is closed for construction of the new practice pavilion.

It’s homecoming week in Hornet Nation, and Sept. 17 and 18 are packed with tradition and school spirit. The annual AHS homecoming parade is Thursday, then Friday, the undefeated Hornets take on Kaufman at Bruce Field.

Homecoming Parade | Thursday, Sept. 17

The parade begins at 6pm tomorrow, departing from and returning to the main parking lot at Trinity Valley Community College. Unlike past years, when the parade started and ended at the AHS campus, this year’s route will be the same route used for the City of Athens Christmas parade, traveling from TVCC north on Palestine Street, around the courthouse square and returning south on Prairieville Street to TVCC. So find a spot along the way and help us fill downtown Athens with Hornet spirit!

Homecoming Game | Friday, Sept. 18

On Friday, it’s time to pack Bruce Field. The Hornets are 3-0 and return home to face the Kaufman Lions after a nail-biting 50-48 win over No. 4 Pine Tree last week.

The AHS band will take the field at 7pm, ahead of the 7:30 kickoff, allowing members of the homecoming court to be presented during halftime.

Tickets

Tickets will be sold at the gate; cash and cards are accepted. General admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students. Reserved seats are $10.

Hornet fans age 60 and older can receive a free Hornet Gold Card for admission to home and away athletic events. To obtain one, visit the field house at 511 Owen St. Monday through Thursday, 8am-1pm, and show your photo ID.

Plan Ahead for Parking

A little planning will make Friday night much easier. The large parking lot on the south side of Bruce Field remains closed while construction continues on the new practice pavilion, so fans should allow extra time to park and make their way to the stadium.

Several other parking areas around Bruce Field, Athens High School and Central Athens Elementary will be available. Please review the parking map before you head to the game.

Bag Policy for Public Events

Athens ISD’s clear bag policy is in effect for all events open to the public. Approved bags include clear bags or backpacks no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, clear plastic fanny packs, and small clutches no larger than 4.5 x 6.5 inches. Exceptions are made for diaper bags accompanying infants or toddlers and bags containing medical necessities.

A Reminder for Students and Families

Students in eighth grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult and should remain in the stands except when visiting the concession stand or restrooms. Congregating under the stands or in front of the concession area is not permitted. We love the energy our students and families bring to Bruce Field, and appreciate everyone doing their part to keep events safe and enjoyable for all.

So come cheer on the parade, celebrate our students and help us fill Bruce Field Friday night. Go Hornets!
