‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hornet families, an area of Athens that includes the high school, Central Athens and South Athens elementary campuses has lost power. Oncor does not expect power to be restored before 7:30 at the earliest. Consequently, as much as we hate to, we have no choice but to cancel the meet the teacher and freshman orientation events at these campuses, and due to multiple scheduling conflicts will be unable to reschedule before school starts. Please rest assured, though, that we will take great care of your children on Monday. 🎉 MEET THE TEACHER & FISH CAMP TONIGHT! 🎉 Elementary and AMS families, don't miss Meet the Teacher tonight! It's come-and-go from 5:30pm-7pm at Bel Air, Central and South. ⭐️ Athens ISD is offering training to foster parents who may represent a student with a disability during the special education process — as well as to community members interested in becoming a surrogate parent in order to represent a student. The special education process is outlined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA). ⭐️ The training will be offered free of charge on Thursday, Aug. 31, from 11:30am-1pm at the AISD administration building (104 Hawn Street, Athens). ⭐️ A light lunch will be reserved for any individuals who RSVP to Brooke Brock, executive director of special programs, at 903-677-6907 or bbrock@athensisd.net.
