Something tells us it's his birthday ... 🥳 Bel Air Elementary preK-3 student Owen Brown turns four today! He's got a few years to go before he's on the same campus as his dad, AHS Administrative Intern Miles Brown. Happy birthday, Owen! #HornetNation

🐝 Mark your calendars for Hornet Summer Sports Camps!

📣 New & returning enrollment for the upcoming school year is open!
👉 To enroll returning students into AISD for the upcoming school year, visit http://www.athensisd.net, click on the “Parents & Students” menu, and select Family Access. After logging in, choose the tile labeled 2025–26 Returning Student Enrollment. You can also go directly to the login page here: https://skyward.iscorp.com/AthensISDTXStuSTS/.
New this year: Families will need to upload proof of residency dated April 2025 or later along with a photo ID to complete registration.
👉 If your child will be new to Athens ISD this fall, enrollment takes place at the campus they will attend. Start by filling out the New Student Enrollment form here: https://skyward.iscorp.com/AthensISDTXStuSTS/NewStudentEnrollment/NewGuardianLoginRequest. This allows you to create a Family Access account (if you don't already have one), complete key forms, and upload required documents such as a birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency and more. You’ll still need to bring physical copies of key documents to your student’s campus to finalize enrollment. For questions, please contact:

⚡️ Bel Air Elementary preK-3 student Charlotte Rios is having a shockingly good time on the playground. Milder temperatures have caused many of our young students to feel ecSTATIC while sliding. 😝 #HornetNation

❄️ Hornet Nation, after much consideration, we’ve decided to cancel school tomorrow. These decisions are almost never easy to make. It involves a great deal of weather watching, communication with other superintendents, and a healthy dose of intuition. 🥶 Our area happens to be teetering on the forecast dividing line between "this looks really bad" and "maybe it won’t be too bad." While we’re pretty confident about the safety of morning travel, we’re much less confident about everyone getting home safely in the afternoon. Ultimately, that’s not a risk we’re willing to take. 🐝 Calling off school is always a balancing act between keeping our students and staff safe, minimizing disruptions to learning, and understanding that last-minute changes can be tough on families. In the end, whether we get it right or wrong, the motivation is as simple as it is powerful: We want everyone to be as safe as possible. 🙏 Stay warm tomorrow, Hornets!

Wrapping up our celebration of National Principals Month, today we’re honoring Bel Air Elementary Principal Lisa Howell! Your unwavering dedication to your students and staff is truly inspiring, Mrs. Howell. Thank you for leading with heart and making a lasting impact every day! #HornetNation

🎨 Heads up, Hornets! The next varsity football home game is Oct. 11, when we plan to tie up the Brownsboro bears. Give yourself plenty of time to search your closets for the perfect tie-dye shirt to wear Oct. 10. 🏈 This Friday, the Hornets are on the road to Jacksonville, where we expect another win! #HornetNation

🎉🥁 The annual Athens Homecoming Parade is this Thursday, Sept. 12! 🥁🎺 The AHS band will kick off the excitement from the high school at 6 PM, marching the traditional route around the courthouse square and back. Be sure to find your perfect spot and get ready to cheer on the Hornets as they pass by! Let’s make this homecoming one to remember—see you there! 👏🐝 #SupportTheHornets #HornetNation #HomecomingParade

👉 Hornets, as our athletic season heats up, don’t forget that a clear bag policy is in place for all public events on AISD property. Diaper bags with infants or toddlers and bags with medical necessities are the only exceptions. Let’s ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone! #HornetNation

‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hornet families, an area of Athens that includes the high school, Central Athens and South Athens elementary campuses has lost power. Oncor does not expect power to be restored before 7:30 at the earliest. Consequently, as much as we hate to, we have no choice but to cancel the meet the teacher and freshman orientation events at these campuses, and due to multiple scheduling conflicts will be unable to reschedule before school starts. Please rest assured, though, that we will take great care of your children on Monday.
🎉 MEET THE TEACHER & FISH CAMP TONIGHT! 🎉 Elementary and AMS families, don't miss Meet the Teacher tonight! It's come-and-go from 5:30pm-7pm at Bel Air, Central and South. At Athens Middle School, it's running from 6pm-7:30pm. 🐠🐠 Fish Camp for incoming 9th graders and their parents/guardians starts at 6:30 tonight at AHS. 👉 Orientation for incoming sixth-graders (parents will drop off/pick up) is tomorrow (Friday) from 9am-11am at AMS. ⭐️ Classes start MONDAY! ⭐️ We can't wait to see everyone and kick off an amazing school year! If your student hasn't yet been registered, be sure and call or visit their campus by today or Friday! #HornetNation

Great news, Hornet family! AISD will provide ALL school supplies for students up through 8th grade! (This does not include backpacks.) It's going to be a great year! 🙌

📚 We're thrilled to share that Brooke Brock, our executive director of special programs (second from right), proudly accepted a $1,000 grant for each of Athens ISD's three elementary campuses from the Texas Trust Gives Foundation! This generous grant will help stock our book vending machines, rewarding students and promoting the joy of reading. Thank you, @TexasTrust.gives, for your ongoing support in enriching our students' educational journey. #HornetNation #TexasTrustGives #SupportEducation

💚 Bel Air Elementary student Gene Swartzenberg was one of many pre-K4 students on campus to take home a "hair-raising" project Thursday as a Mother's Day gift. Gene and his classmates put their images on cups and grew grass from seeds. 🌱🌱 They’ve got a pretty rye sense of humor. 😆
