🙋🏻‍♀️ I'll try some! 🥝 Jessica Warren of Labatt Produce (shown here in the Bel Air cafeteria) recently visited Athens ISD’s three elementary campuses to provide students with the opportunity to try fresh fruits and vegetables, some of which were new to them. These included watermelon radishes (a member of the mustard family along with turnips), gooseberries (a sweet-tart fruit), and rainbow carrots (which can be yellow, red, white, purple or orange). The “farmers market” tasting was arranged by Taher Food Service, which manages the district’s cafeterias. #HornetNation

⌨️ First-graders at Bel Air Elementary work on their keyboarding skills in the library. Across the district, elementary students use a program called Keyboarding without Tears to learn typing and computer-use skills, beginning with the basics, such as how to "click and drag." Little Hornets learn the importance of computer literacy early! #HornetNation

🌟 Hooray for the Athens Public Education Foundation! Pictured is APEF President Cody Craig presenting Deputy Superintendent Ginger Morrison with a check for $30,000. The money will be divided among the campuses ($5,000 for each elementary, $7,000 for Athens Middle School and $8,000 for Athens High School) to fund the campuses' choice of end-of-year projects, celebrations or materials — such as books for students to keep, bounce houses, a hamburger cookout, outdoor games, canopies, and ice cream and coffee trucks. AISD is grateful for the hardworking APEF volunteers who bring joy to students and teachers! #HornetNation
