It is time for ATHENS READS TOGETHER! To kick off the program, today your child was given his or her very own copy of the book MYSTERIES ACCORDING TO HUMPHREY by Betty Birney to keep forever along with a suggested reading calendar. You may start celebrating the book together as a family today! Reading links can be found on our Athens Elementary Library social media pages if you need them: www.facebook.com/cheerreading and on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@cheerreading

🐭 Get ready for a fun night on Bruce Field for our students. There will be a district-wide showing of the move "Ratatouille" on Friday, April 17. Gates open at 6pm, with games and craft tables on hand until the movie starts at 7:15. Admission is free, snacks will be available for purchase, and free popcorn will be provided by Weinstein Law. High school students may attend on their own, but all other students must have a parent or guardian present. Bring something to be comfortable for the movie (blankets, pillows, beach chairs), your own covered drink, and come enjoy the movie with us. If it rains, we'll move into the gym by the horseshoe parking lot. Don't miss it! #HornetNation

Athens ISD will remain closed on Wednesday due to continued hazardous road conditions, especially in outlying areas. While many roads in town have thawed today, we still have ice on many of our rural bus routes, some of which extend into Van Zandt and Anderson counties. With a refreeze expected overnight, we cannot safely guarantee transportation for all students. As always, student safety comes first. Thank you for your understanding and support as we wait out the last of this winter weather. Stay safe and warm, Hornets!

Hornet family: Due to hazardous road conditions, Athens ISD will be closed on both Monday and Tuesday. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this winter weather together. Stay warm and safe, Hornets!

❗️Important news❗️Beginning the first day of school, Monday, Aug. 4, Athens ISD students will be required to follow a new state law that prohibits the use of cell phones and other personal communication devices during the school day at all campuses. This is not a local school board policy, but rather a Texas state law passed by the legislature and required of all public schools. 👀 Under this law, students may not use personal cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, tablets, laptops, or other similar devices at any campus. (District-provided laptops and tablets are not personal devices.) Athens High School has been operating under similar conditions for the past few years through the use of Yondr phone pouches, which, though not perfect, has helped promote greater focus and fewer distractions in the classroom. This experience gives us a strong foundation. 👉 In order to comply with the new law throughout the entire district, all personal devices belonging to students must be powered off (not in silent mode) and stored in a backpack or locked vehicle for the entire school day. Devices may not be carried on the student, including in a pocket. 🐝 We ask our wonderfully supportive parents and guardians to help students adjust to this change. It’s all part of our shared goal of creating the best learning environment possible for every Hornet.

Below the image, a beige box contains bold text that reads: “BEGINNING MONDAY THRU MAY 27 — PLEASE DONATE YOUR STUDENT’S UNIFORM CLOTHING AT THE CAMPUS OFFICE.” The message encourages families to contribute used school uniforms before the end-of-year deadline.
Something tells us it's his birthday ... 🥳 Bel Air Elementary preK-3 student Owen Brown turns four today! He's got a few years to go before he's on the same campus as his dad, AHS Administrative Intern Miles Brown. Happy birthday, Owen! #HornetNation

📣 New & returning enrollment for the upcoming school year is open! 👉 To enroll returning students into AISD for the upcoming school year, visit http://www.athensisd.net, click on the “Parents & Students” menu, and select Family Access. After logging in, choose the tile labeled 2025–26 Returning Student Enrollment. You can also go directly to the login page here: https://skyward.iscorp.com/AthensISDTXStuSTS/. New this year: Families will need to upload proof of residency dated April 2025 or later along with a photo ID to complete registration. 👉 If your child will be new to Athens ISD this fall, enrollment takes place at the campus they will attend. Start by filling out the New Student Enrollment form here: https://skyward.iscorp.com/AthensISDTXStuSTS/NewStudentEnrollment/NewGuardianLoginRequest. This allows you to create a Family Access account (if you don't already have one), complete key forms, and upload required documents such as a birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency and more. You’ll still need to bring physical copies of key documents to your student’s campus to finalize enrollment. For questions, please contact: • Bel Air – 903-677-6980 • Central Athens – 903-677-6960 • South Athens – 903-677-6970 • AMS – 903-677-3030 • AHS – 903-677-6920
